Golden Couple’s Back Roads of China tour

Cindy and Douglas are nature lovers, living in Hawaii, USA. They have been to China for three times, to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an. They are looking forward to the off beaten tracks of southwest China, confusion of countryside, natural beauties and minority lives, and they specially prefer to anciant Chinese style accommodation with good view.

We tailor made the tour as follow. First 7 days in Chongqing accommodated natural beauty highlights at Wulong, Heishan Valley and Three Gorge. Following  7 days in Guilin-Yangshuo included country field cycling, river rafting and cave exploring. Last 7 days at Kunming-Dali Bai minority region combined visit to ancient fortress, lake, mountains and  accommodation at Shuanglang lake view guest house.

Following is the testimonial from Cindy & Douglas.

Dear Lark

The tour was interesting and educational. It exceeded our expectations. Pre communication was good. It would have helped if I had started the process earlier with more time to plan. Tour design was good. Our tour designer, Claire, was really good about communicating in a timely manner and answering my questions. You even prepared us Phone sim card to give us constant support during our 22 day.I thhink having the Phone sim card worked out really well and made it so much easier for us to communicate.

We really like local culture and real life, not so much the contrived and touristy things. We also like off the beaten track, countryside, villages and local markets. Travel in China is rewarding, but rigorous, mainly due to language and cultural differences. We like smaller hotels, but nice ones, more for the local experience than trying to save money. However, Lark planned it out just as our preference, visiting off beaten track, contryside, villages, and characteristic hotel with balcony of nice views.

Some of the hightlights, we really love the accomodation at Chongqing…..comfortable, big room, beds were hard but the view and location were perfect. City lights and the river view were spectacular. The manager was friendly and helped us when we needed help. He had an English translation program on his computer. Good idea.Dali was really special, the air was clean, and we loved the architecture of the buildings. The day on the mountain was the best, visiting the Buddhist temples and hiking around. I also liked the day we spent around the lake going to some markets and observing local life.Shuanglong ancient town hotel was fun, great view of the lake, very relaxing and comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the town.

We will look into doing another trip to the Xinjiang area and the remote parts of the Yunnan province in a year or two. Maybe even Inner Mongolia.Thank you! Overall we had a fabulous time and appreciate all the hard work you all did for us. Thank you.We will be happy to use your services again.
